The flat had been converted into a den of sorts. The walls were gone, the floor only bare cement without carpet, and worn smooth by traffic. In the middle of the room lay the recipient of Regillion’s words.
A large, gray, common breed dragon.
Nevvy’s gasp inhaled all the oxygen in the room.
Thorn raised his head and turned, having his back to them, to peer over his shoulder. At the sight of Regillion, he let out an excited huff and rolled over on his other side so he faced them.
“Nevvy,” Regillion said. “This is Thorn, my dragon.”
“I kind of caught that already.” She breathed in a terrified whisper.
Regillion climbed up behind her and put his hands on either side of her waist. “I promise I won’t let anything happen to you.”
She nodded, but it looked more like a tremble.
“Do you trust me?” he asked.
“Yes.” She whispered.
“Hold onto the front of the saddle. Let’s go, Thorn.”
Two snippets from the same chapter. First time Nevaeh ever rode a dragon XD
